FAQs

What should I bring to a soundbath?

Bring your yoga mat (or reclining meditation chair) and anything you need to be comfortable, which may include a pillow/cushion, blanket, eye mask, water bottle, etc.

What can I expect during a soundbath visualization experience?

Just as in a traditional soundbath, you will be “bathed in sound” with crystal singing bowls, rain drums and disks, Koshi chimes and other instruments. For soundbaths that include a themed visualization component, you will also be walked through a visualization exercise for the first ~15 minutes to fully ground you in the experience.

What time should I show up?

Please plan to arrive at least 5 minutes in advance to get settled into your space.

How long does a soundbath last?

Most sessions are 60 minutes, but check details for your particular event.

What benefits can I expect from a soundbath?

People report a variety of physical, mental, and emotional benefits:

  • Reduced stress and anxiety

  • Lowered blood pressure and slower heart rate

  • Deeper, more restorative sleep

  • Enhanced mental clarity, creativity, and focus

  • Decreased muscle tension or chronic pain

  • A simple pause from daily stressors

These effects may show up during the session, immediately after, and sometimes extend for days or weeks.

Why does it feel like a “massage for your nervous system”?

Just like a physical massage eases muscle tension, sound vibrations gently release built-up stress from your nervous system—without any physical manipulation. You simply rest while the vibrations do the work.

Can I fall asleep during a soundbath?

Falling asleep during soundbaths is common and still incredibly beneficial—you continue absorbing the benefits of slowed brainwaves, nervous system downregulation, and deep rest.

Who shouldn't attend a soundbath?

Generally, soundbaths are accessible to nearly everyone, including those with hearing impairments (since you feel—not just hear—the vibrations). However, if you're pregnant, have epilepsy, experience extreme sound sensitivity, or have any medical concerns, you should check with your healthcare provider first.

What’s the science behind soundbaths?

  • Brainwave entrainment:

    • Sound vibrations guide your brain from active Beta waves into calmer Alpha, Theta, and even Delta states—types associated with relaxation, creativity, healing, and deep sleep

  • Nervous system regulation:

    • The sound stimulates your parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) nervous system—slowing heart rate, reducing blood pressure, easing digestion and lowering stress hormones

  • Physiological vibration response:

    • You aren’t just “hearing” bowls—you’re feeling their vibrations. Studies using EEG and heart-rate variability tools show increased Theta and Alpha waves, reduced Beta activity, and better HRV during and after similar vibrational therapies
